Through the Phases is a platform to share with you all the practices I use on my own growth journey and the lessons I have learned along the way, because I know this wisdom can help you too! We explore topics like self care, journaling, manifestation, tarot, yoga and more, to help you navigate your own unique healing journey in a way that serves you.

My Story

Let's get real.

I haven’t always had the optimistic and growth-motivated outlook on life that I focus on embodying now. I experienced repeated childhood traumas and grew up with a dysregulated nervous system and complex mental health difficulties as a result.

 In fact, there's been multiple times in my life that I didn’t want to be alive at all.

But in 2016, while studying for my Psychology BSc, I started to explore practices like yoga and meditation for the first time, and a whole new world and outlook on life presented itself to me.

I became aware of the connection between the mind, body and soul, and for the first time in my life I experienced hope for healing and a future for myself. This was the beginning of a healing journey that would snowball into starting Through the Phases (formerly Hopeful Lotus) in 2017 to share what I was learning in the hope it could inspire others like me, as well as completing a yoga teacher certification (200hr) in 2018 to deepen my knowledge of the mind-body-soul connection.

In the years that've followed, my path has been dedicated to my own healing journey and this blog, but it hasn't been an easy road. After experiencing further traumatic events and a period of prolonged chronic stress, I began to develop chronic health symptoms and fatigue in late 2019 that would later be diagnosed as a type of dysautonomia (a nervous system disorder).

As a result I doubled down on research relating to the nervous system and mind-body disorders, and my journey has largely been focused on healing trauma, cultivating safety in my body and supporting my system to heal. And I have made huge shifts since doing so.

I never want to paint myself as somebody who is perfectly healed, and I truly believe that for many of us healing is a lifelong journey (and a beautiful one), that doesn't end with a certain milestone or specific symptoms going away. 

But I can say that I am now more happy, healthy, fulfilled and at peace than I ever thought was possible. And my lust for life grows every single day.

And sharing what has helped, and continues to help, me grow gives me a purpose to use the wisdom I've gained from my own difficulties to support others. Because healing is possible for everyone, including you.

What This Means for You

Much like the moon, we all go through phases in life.

Life isn't always going to be positive and there are going to be times when things feel challenging. But it's up to us how we choose to interpret and move through these times.

If we choose to, we can transform any hardship we face into a beautiful journey of growth and self discovery. I know because I've done it.

In my darkest times, I had no hope for the future and no desire to grow. But with the tools and practices that I share with you on this platform I shifted to a state where I continue to grow every single day.

I want you to know that you can achieve this, too.

No matter what struggles you've encountered in life or where you find yourself currently, you can make the shift.
