Through the Phases is centred around the idea that we all go through phases in life, where our needs, desires and values shift, and our energy levels wax and wane.
Some phases call for us to strive forward and rise to the challenge, while others invite us to slow down, turn inward, and nourish our need for rest.
Through the Phases is all about creating balance between the drive to improve and the need for stillness, in a way that works for your unique self and the phase that you’re in. So that you can experience growth and self-improvement, without burnout.
Here, we’re big believers that:

- Rest fuels growth; it’s not a break from progress, but an essential piece of the puzzle!
- Success doesn’t have to mean hustle, exhaustion, and chronic busyness. It can look like ease, contentment, and building a life that works for you.
- We’re all different – your journey doesn’t need to follow anybody else’s path, timeline, or rules. Progress is personal and you don’t need to meet society’s standards of success.
- The mind and body can’t be separated. Taking care of ourselves requires a holistic and balanced approach.
Whether you’re striving towards a goal or in need of a pause to recharge, Through the Phases is a space to explore this journey at your own pace.

My story…
Hey, I’m Esther. But you can also call me Ezz!
I founded Through the Phases to help share the knowledge I’ve learnt on my growth and healing journey, to support others who struggle to achieve what they desire in life without burning themselves out in the process.
I’ve struggled with mental health challenges for most of my life, with anxiety placing unsustainable demands on my mind and body since childhood. Then, in my early 20s, I started experiencing chronic fatigue and other physical symptoms that forced me to hit pause completely.

Navigating these symptoms brought attention to the ways I’ve always pushed myself – mentally, emotionally, and physically – to meet a standard that I thought would make me more acceptable to society and those around me. Truth is, chronic illness aside, my limits have always looked a little different – I’m sensitive, easily overstimulated, my energy drains quickly, and I need a lot of alone time. Part of my healing has been recognising that this is part of who I am, and brute force won’t change that!

I’ve since had to learn how to balance my big dreams and love for growth with a slower, more sustainable pace. Now, I’m building a life on my own terms – one that prioritises progress over perfection, balance over burnout, and centres around MY version of success.
I hope that Through the Phases can be a supportive space where we can navigate life’s challenges together. Not just those of us with mental or physical health challenges, but anyone who wants to create a fulfilling and sustainable life, unique to them. We’re all different, after all.
A little disclaimer: I’m not a medical professional and I don’t claim to have all the answers (I think this is a lifelong kinda journey!), but I will bring my lived experience, thirst for knowledge, and love for research to help you along the way. I have a Psychology BSc, a 200hr yoga teacher training, and I’m currently studying an MSc focused on the mind-body connection. So, as you can probably tell, these kinds of topics are what make me tick!
Aside from my love for writing, the things that bring me the most joy are reading, hiking, nature, playing board games, cuddling my little sausage dog Frank and, of course, connecting with my friends and family.
Thank you for being here and I hope we can connect on this journey together <3
