Manifesting a New Job or Career Change in 7 Easy Steps

Sharing is caring!

There’s more to life than what job you do – but when most of us spend more time at work than we do anywhere else, it’s surely in our best interests to work somewhere and do something that we enjoy, right

In fact, I think it’s super important that your work isn’t a drain on your life. Because if you hate what you do, where you work or the people you work with, this will drip into the rest of your life and suck the joy out of the things that you personally see as a top priority.

So, if you’re not happy in your current position or there’s something else you want to strive for, it might be time to look at manifesting a new job.

Maybe you already have your sights set on a dream job that you know you’d love to do. In that case, even better!

In this post I’ll be guiding you through some of the best ways to manifest a new job or career change so that you can fill the majority of your time with something fulfilling.

By the end you’ll be fully equipped to go away and start putting in the work to land a role that you truly desire.

What is manifestation?

Manifestation is the process of bringing something from your desired reality into your current reality.

It works on the basis of the Law of Attraction, and other Universal laws, that mean that the energy that you put out into the Universe is essentially what you get back.

Of course this is a very generalised description and there are nuances to the way manifestation works.

So if you’re new to this topic and you want to learn more about manifestation I’d encourage you to explore my other posts and books on the topic.

How can I manifest a job?

When it comes to manifesting a job, the essential principles of the Law of Attraction remain the same as manifesting any other thing.

That means you need to focus on energy.

It essentially doesn’t even matter what qualifications you have or your previous experience – anybody can manifest a job.

The truth is, setting yourself apart energetically is the best way to land a new job, promotion or career change.

This explains how people land themselves in positions that they’re “underqualified” for all the time. It comes back to their confidence and self-belief, and the energy that this puts out into the Universe (and is picked up on by employers!)

Now, don’t be disheartened by this if confidence isn’t something that comes to you naturally. This is just one example of how energetics can work in your favour.

The energy you need to put out is ultimately job-specific and I’m going to help you figure out how to attract your dream role using manifestation principles, even if you’re not the most extraverted person out there!

How to manifest a new job quickly (in 7 steps)

So with that being said, let’s explore some of my top tips for manifesting a new job quickly.

Use a combination of each of these steps in order to attract new job offers and open up doors for new roles and promotions!

1. Get clear on what you desire

One of the most important manifestation principles is clarity, and it applies to job applications too.

Whether you’re currently unemployed, unhappy in your current role, or you just fancy a change or level-up… what actually is it that you want from a new job?

The mistake many people make when applying for new jobs is that they apply for so many different positions from a place of needing a job, rather than taking the time to explore what’s actually right for them.

Now, of course in some cases this need makes perfect sense. When you’re unemployed or incredibly unhappy in your current role, a new or different job is all you feel like you might want. You couldn’t care less about what the job actually entails, right?

But in almost every case the person could benefit from taking a step back and actually exploring their true wants and needs. In other words, get a little fussy!

The problem with frantically applying for hundreds of jobs is that this puts out the energy of desperation, as well as a lack of true connection between the applicant and the role.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying you should put all of your eggs in one basket (I’m actually a huge advocate for having a plan B, despite what other manifestation teachers may say about this).

But narrow down your options to those that feel truly aligned with your purpose or your current needs. And then put the work in to get energetically aligned with those options.

By getting clear and focusing on just a few job opportunities at a time you can ensure that your energy isn’t scattered. And it leaves room to evaluate and improve any time you come to apply for new roles in future.

2. Use scripting to define your dream job

If you want to get a little clearer, or you already have a dream job in mind, try scripting!

Scripting is an exercise that allows you to truly visualise yourself in your desired reality, by writing down the details as if it was true in the present.

This allows you to get really clear about what it is that you want, as well as encouraging the process of visualisation which allows you to connect energetically to what you’re trying to manifest.

Before you start looking for new roles or splashing a load of cash to start up a business, take some time to truly connect to the day to day.

Try using these questions as prompts to start scripting your new job:

  • What would your mornings look like in your new role?
  • When would your days start and end?
  • How would you travel to/from work?
  • Where would your workplace be? What would it look like? How would it feel/smell/sound?
  • Would you work alone? What would your colleagues be like?
  • Would you have a boss? What would they be like?
  • What would you typically do on a day to day basis?
  • How would you feel when you finished your work day/got home?

3. Write a resignation letter to your old job (don’t send it yet)

Something that holds a lot of people back from manifesting a new job is that they’re not truly ready to leave their current one yet.

Whether it’s because of a fear of change, leaving behind colleagues that you like, or uncertainty about it being the “right” decision, you have to be willing to cut those cords.

Because if you’re energetically tied to your current job, you’ll struggle to readily manifest new opportunities.

A ritual you can do to cut those cords and open new doors is to write a resignation letter for your current position.

This doesn’t have to be the most professional letter or even the one you eventually send (I personally wouldn’t recommend actually resigning for a role until you have a new one available).

Instead, it’s designed for you to say everything you need to say in order to cut ties. So don’t hold back from including the good, bad and the ugly. If something is on your chest, get it out!

Depending on the nature of your letter, you might choose to burn it as a ritual to release this energy, or save the copy to eventually send to your employer when you move on.

4. Act as if

Acting as if is one of my fundamental recommendations for manifesting anything.

This is the process of doing whatever it means to “act as if” you already have your desire (in this case, the job you’re after) even when you currently don’t.

It might seem contradictory when you first hear about this method, but it’s truly the best way to become an energetic match for your desire.

It’s not faking it as such, but instead stepping into the part of yourself that is aligned with your desire. You can read all about how to do this process in this post.

For the case of manifesting a new job, there are several things you want to consider in order to step into the version of you with your desired reality.

Here are some starter questions you might ask yourself in order to do this:

  • What would I dress like in my dream job?
  • How would I spend my free time in my dream job?
  • How would I feel in my dream job?
  • What would my priorities be in my dream job?
  • What would my relationship with money be like in my dream job?

If you’re struggling to answer these questions, you could also try envisioning an imaginary person rather than yourself.

Then take your answers and think about how you could incorporate this energy into your life now.

For example, if you think you/somebody in your dream job would dress “classy”, or “artsy”, or “bright and colourful”, look for ways that you can embody this energy on a daily basis.

You don’t have to buy a whole new wardrobe or reinvent yourself, because aspects of all of these things already exist within you. So look for ways to let this energy shine through authentically.

Because the truth is, you don’t have to wait until you land your dream job to start embodying this energy.

And if you embody this energy regularly, you will naturally attract the things you associate with it.

5. Work on your limiting beliefs

You don’t always have to be the most confident person in the room, but you do need to work on the limiting beliefs that might be holding you back.

If you truly believe at your core that you’re not good enough for a role, or you’re underqualified or an imposter, that will affect the opportunities that you allow yourself to welcome in.

Unless you put in the work to remodel the beliefs that are holding you back, you’ll always be selling yourself short.

Working on your limiting beliefs allows you to get out of your own way and allows you to welcome in new opportunities and desires, even if you’re not 100% qualified.

Because the truth is we each have our own strengths and weaknesses,  and if you can learn to focus on your strengths and embody this energy even more strongly, you’ll attract opportunities that will allow you to capitalise on these strengths.

6. Take inspired action

The truth is, manifestation is a fine balance between energy and action.

If you put in all action without the energetics, you’ll head in the wrong direction. But if you put in all energetics and no action, you won’t go anywhere.

If you think that you can sit back, create a vision board, and a job will magically appear in your inbox… you should probably think again.

Once you begin working on your energy, the Universe will often give you clues as to the action you need to take. This is called inspired action.

It’s your job to meet the Universe halfway by taking this action. Because this is the action that is going to take you in the right direction towards your desire.

Note how different this is from the frantic and meaningless action we talked about earlier? Inspired action will feel purposeful and aligned. It will feel clear and guided.

If you feel a calling to email a certain company, or arrange a meeting with a certain person, or post a survey about a new business idea – listen. Make sure you are always moving forward and taking steps to manifest your desire.

7. Let go of attachment

And finally… let go of attachment.

We spoke earlier about not putting all of your eggs in one basket when it comes to manifesting a new job.

And part of the reason why is that when you pour all of your energy into one singular outcome, it’s a recipe for getting over-attached. When it’s all-or-nothing like this it can lead to fear, which isn’t the energy you want to be putting out when manifesting.

That’s why I’m a firm believer in having a plan B (or hell, even a plan C).

You can still pour your energy into each of these cups, but what you’re communicating to the Universe is that you’re open to options and ready to receive whatever is most aligned.

If it turns out plan A isn’t meant for you, you’re okay with that. It’s not the end of the world for you.

Another tip I have with this is, when you do have your heart set out on a particular outcome, to reaffirm to yourself that “it’s this or something better”.

This simple affirmation releases attachment to the singular outcome and opens up a world of other opportunities that might be more aligned. (fun fact: I actually used this tip when manifesting mine and my partner’s first home together!)

By releasing attachment like this, you’ll get rid of energy and emotions that might be holding you back from manifesting a new job, like fear and desperation.
